For most of you that have written essays for School or University, you might have been advised to read your final draft before submission.<\/strong> Well, in the case for video projects and editors, the case is pretty much the same. It is always better to go through the \u2018final quality control checklist\u2019 before you submit your feature. Double-checking or even triple-checking your projects before you finally export them can always save you a lot of a hassle rather than re-opening and re-editing.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everyone keeps talking about making sure everything is perfect. But sadly, nobody actually tells you how it\u2019s done! So here\u2019s a little checklist to bear in mind when you\u2019re making sure everything is perfect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Quiet Place<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Why are editors always agitated? Because they\u2019re always surrounded by people who want to take a peek of what they\u2019re doing and they\u2019re always getting unwanted and unnecessary feedback. Well, not all feedback is unnecessary. But does everyone really have the eye of what you\u2019re trying to deliver? Apart from the Director himself? Make sure that the last time you watch your project is alone and in a quiet room where nobody can interrupt the flow of your video. Most of the times, an editor will be able to find the wrongs and rights by himself if given the time and space. Be your own critic – this comes in handy most when you\u2019re just about to deliver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bit by Broken Bit<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Review everything as full piece finally. But before that, watch everything segment by segment or sequence by sequence. Breaking things down to smaller scenes will make it easier and faster for you to find things that need fixing. Every segment of a video or film is the lead to another and is delivering its very own personal message.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Third Eye<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Yes, your own two-eyes may not always be sufficient. Once you\u2019re done rechecking things, ask someone who has absolutely no idea about to project – to watch it for you. Ask them what they understand from the final product. Sometimes, the message you\u2019re trying to deliver can be unclear. Make sure everything is perfect by showing it to someone who has no idea and asking them what they understand from it and what they see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Watch it on Another Screen<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Most of us use an entire monitor that has been segmented into source screens and timelines which disables us from actually viewing the entire video as a whole by utilizing the entire monitor. Also, computer screens are smaller than TVs. Try to create a hard or soft copy of the project and export it to watch on a TV screen. The bigger the screen, the more prominent your mistakes will be – if any. Catch them all like Pokemon and fix them!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Client Friend<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Have a friend pretend as a fake client (or someone from your team depending on the confidentiality of the project) and watch the video. This will be able to get comments from a third person as they watch your final export in their own free time.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
